Stroud News and Journal: The independent gift and interiors shop, Victoria R, will be closing on Easter Saturday [March 30]“There are many reasons for me taking this decision to close and it has not been an easy one, but it’s now time to focus on my family and move on to pastures new.”

Centre manager at Five Valleys, Jack Simpson, said: “We have loved having Victoria as part of the Five Valleys family, joining us on our redevelopment journey - we wish Victoria all the best for the future.

"At the moment we are unable to announce the future of the shop, but we can confirm that our estates team is in talks with a potential high street brand as we look to build on the success of the recent announcement of Sports Direct joining the centre.”

Meanwhile, Sandersons department store continues with its extensive refurbishment to reduce its floor space also making way for the new retailer to join the centre.

Victoria continued: “Dransfield Properties have been hugely supportive over the past three years and I’m grateful for their assistance in allowing me to move on to a new career path which fits better with my family life.

“I will miss the community we have here, but will be returning as a regular shopper and will enjoy watching the centre continue its transformation.”

A shopping centre spokesperson added: "The changes will increase the number of local jobs for Stroud and improve the offer further helping to create a vibrant town centre destination where people can shop, dine and be entertained."
