THREE people have been charged in connection with an animal rights protest at dairy giant Muller's Severnside plant in Stonehouse.

During the demos in September 2022, climate action group Animal Rebellion blockaded four dairy sites across the country including Muller at Stonehouse by climbing onto trucks, milk silos and loading bays as part of a campaign for a plant-based food system.

The action carried by more than 100 supporters was aimed at stopping the supply of fresh milk across large areas of England on September 4, 2022.

Müller sites targeted were in Stonehouse, Droitwich and Bridgwater.

Three people were arrested during the disturbance at Muller's processing site in Oldends Lane, Stonehouse.

Osian Dixon, 26, is charged with intending to destroy or damage property at the site by using extra strong glue.

Dixon appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates last Tuesday, April 16 accused of having strong glue with intent to cause damage at the site in Oldends Lane, Stonehouse on September 4 2022.

It is alleged that Dixon of Corris, Machynlleth, Powys, intended to use the glue himself or to cause or permit another to use it to damage property.

The case was sent to Gloucester Crown Court for trial and Dixon was granted unconditional bail pending his first appearance on May 23.

Two other people have also been charged.

Sarah Benn, aged 56, of Balden Road, Birmingham, is charged with damaging the front bumper of a lorry and possessing glue and a drill with intent to damage property.

Thomas Gardener, aged 30, of New Eaton Road, Nottingham, is charged with possessing a bottle of glue with intent to damage property.

Muller operates sites in Gloucestershire Worcestershire and Somerset.

Animal Rebellion describes itself as a 'mass movement that uses non-violent civil disobedience to bring about a transition to a just and sustainable plant-based food system'.
